Staying active is essential for maintaining a healthy body and mind, especially as we age.

But, as we get older, either due to new physical limitations or decreased motivation, it can be challenging to find enjoyable ways to stay active.

Fortunately, there are plenty of fun activities that can keep us moving and motivated, regardless of our age.

In this article, I will share ten enjoyable ways to stay active after 60.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve really started embracing any and all outdoor activities.  It is such a great way to get a big boost of Vitamin D!

You will also be able to put a big smile on your face as your flowers grow. 

Fishing:  Active Relaxation

Fishing is a great way for seniors to stay active while enjoying the outdoors in a peaceful setting.

It’s also a great opportunity to get in some walking or hiking to get to your favorite fishing hole!

Not to mention it also allows time to bond with family members or friends who may also be interested in fishing. 

Walking: The Simplest Exercise

Walking is one of the simplest and most effective forms of exercise.

It’s easy to do, requires no special equipment, and can be done almost anywhere. Plus, it’s a great way to get some fresh air and enjoy the outdoors.

Cycling: To Get Some Errands Done

Cycling is a fabulous way to exercise!

All you need is a bike to get started.

You can just go on a short leisurely ride around the neighborhood or maybe just run a few errands.  Either way it will be a huge boost to your mental and physical health

Who knows, you may love riding your bike so much that you plan a distance ride or sign up for a local cycling race!  You won’t know until you try!

If outdoor workouts aren’t for you – either due to health issues or bad weather – don’t worry, there are plenty of indoor activities that have awesome mental and physical benefits!

It was a learning curve for me since it has slower movements.

This activity combines slow movements with deep breathing exercises which helps improve balance and coordination.

It also helps to strengthen muscles throughout the body and promotes relaxation at the same time!

Resistance Band Exercises for Strengthening

Resistance band exercises are a great way to build strength without putting too much strain on your joints.

I like to use resistance bands for several exercises like bicep curls, tricep extensions, and shoulder presses.

You can also use resistance bands for lower body exercises like squats, glute bridges and deadlifts.

If you’re new to using resistance bands, I recommend starting with a light resistance band and gradually working your way up to a heavier band as you get stronger.

You can take a dance class at your local community center or gym, or you can dance along to your favorite music at home.

I don’t really have a dance style and that’s okay!  Just moving and shaking will do the trick.
